WINGS Community Foundation Global Status Report 2010
A new format for the GSR
The 2010 Community Foundation Global Status Report is the sixth in a series of reports on the development of community foundations around the world, and the first web-based version of this signature report. It was commissioned and funded by Worldwide Initiatives for Grantmaker Support (WINGS).
Community Foundations of Canada (CFC)
Representatives from various communities protest in front of Lake Winnipeg to secure watershed for current and future generations. A collaborative effort of 13 Community Foundations, supported by CFC, has placed the issue firmly on the political agenda.
We found that support to community foundations was highly available in North America but much less so in Africa.
Australia’s community foundations
The Victorian Community Foundation, Australia’s first, was established in 1983 by the ANZ Bank Trustees and was not a traditional “community-owned” community foundation. The first public community foundation, in Tasmania, was established in 1995 and Melbourne followed in 1997. In 2000 the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) was established in part to support the development of community foundations.
